  1. Julio, it's quite impressive what you're doing. Especially like the complex stuff that you're using - motion capture, tissue sim, cloth sim and so on.

  2. Thank you Gleb, it`s been a great journey and it`s still in it`s beginning, i spent the summer making a wish list for the film and arranging ways to make it work, cloth, muscle deformation and mocap were on the top :)

  3. How viewport performance feels with everything on-screen? Is it manageable in realtime?

    1. Well, before going with with IPi for a cheap motion capture system i`ve searched for suits, the traditional dots and I,R cameras, all those solutions were expensive to purchase and cumbersome to set up. There is one system that provides a realtime capture, it`s called Nimate and haves a free version with one kinect, the problem with the software was that doing it on the fly within Blender and just one depth, sensor the capture just fails, you have arms and legs moving awkwardly. I hope their system improves with the next gen of depth sensor, its a great idea.

With Ipi (that supports 2 kinects or 8 pseye camers, with the calibration and conditions done right, the error margin in detection is about 90%, also the system emulates the foot contact with the floor and allows you to correct while making the processing, there you can export preview version of your model in Blender and open it as a side by side character to ipi. Ex: Alice haves a big head and a large skirt, so having a side by side character while processing comes in hand.

  4. And in Ipi you can see the sensor data in real time, it`s the color depth that appear on the laptop at the video. After a few days working on it, just by looking at the sensor data you can predict if it works or not.

  6. ... man this is good stuff. I really need to get into blender more. I need to find someone to send me money to feed my family so I can make Blender movies :)

    Great work, great vision!
